 | Soil Systems ABC products are a living mix of 15 or more different types of naturally occurring micro-organisms including beneficial bacteria like those found in pro-biotic yoghurts, and yeasts like those found in ales, wines and on the surface of ripe fruit. ABC stands for Anaerobic Bacterial Consortium and is entirely GM free.
The mixture of microbes has been very carefully balanced to get the very best out of each type, and produce a result that is better than the sum of its ingredients. That is, the microbes in ABC work together, helping each other to get the maximum benefit possible from them. The micro-organisms in ABC work to create an environment that allows them to flourish and discourages other non-beneficial microbes from multiplying. Between them the microbes in ABC actually break down "bad smell" compounds (eg. hydrogen sulphide and ammonia), and can out-compete and suppress non-beneficial bacteria to prevent the bad smell from forming in the first place.
ABC can effectively break down dead plant matter to increase composting speed, and the quality of the compost is improved because the microbes in ABC secrete plant nutrients, and because ABC suppresses non-beneficial odour causing bacteria, smells are prevented. In fact ABC products can be used anywhere you want to replace bad microbes with good microbes.
